The organizers of the Ohio Turfgrass Conference & Show recently announced total attendance of 2410 turfgrass professionals at its 43rd Annual Ohio Turfgrass Conference & Show held December 7-10 in Columbus, OH. The trade show featured more than 150 companies occupying 30,000 square feet of exhibit space.

Highlights of the annual event included;

• Randy Tischer, Green Velvet Sod Farms, received the Ohio Turfgrass Foundation (OTF) 2009 Professional of the Year Award

• Bruce Jones, John Deere Landscapes/LESCO, received an OTF 2009 Professional Excellence Award

• Heidi Voss, Bauer Voss Consulting, received a OTF 2009 President’s Special Recognition Award

• OTF presented $19,500 in scholarships to 14 students from turf and landscape programs at colleges around Ohio

• Dick Durrance, former National Geographic Photographer, gave the Keynote Address: Creating Opportunities – Seeing What Is, Imagining What Can Be.

• 100+ hours of educational programming offered topics on golf turf, golf course management, sports turf, lawn & landscape, irrigation, sod production, environmental issues, mechanics and more.

The Ohio Turfgrass Conference and Show is sponsored by the Ohio Turfgrass Foundation, The Ohio State University, Ohio Agricultural Research and Development Center, and The Ohio State University Extension. Supporting industry organizations include the Ohio Lawn Care Association, Ohio Sports Turf Managers Association, Ohio Sod Producers Association, and GCSAA Ohio Chapters.

The Ohio Turfgrass Conference & Show will return to the Greater Columbus Convention Center, December 6-9, 2010.
