Portage Country Club 2010 Turf Management Intern/Co-op Program Portage Team Mission Portage Country Club team members are empowered to do whatever it takes to achieve excellence in all activities and amenities for its Members, families and guests. Our timing is very flexible - we will work with prospective interns to find mutually agreeable dates for internships. Interns will be working on the grounds crew in a non management role. We want to bring in students who are interested in learning the unique things that can only be learned by having worked in the private club environment. Interns will experience situations outside the classroom and gain knowledge about real world expectations and services in an environment where members expect to be recognized and referred to by name. The work schedule will be rigorous, but we want each intern’s experience to be as unique as possible for them. We will provide time for Project/Educational work, including but not limited to: o Special Projects o Regular meeting with Mentor Supervisor or other members of the Operations committee o A day shadowing our President/CEO o Weekly rotation to work in other departments for a day The key traits we are looking for are a strong work ethic, good organization, team player and the ability to learn quickly. For those students who are willing to invest time working at Portage, we are willing to invest time helping them develop other skills. Benefits include training, uniforms, meals, golf privileges and competitive wages.
